A Design to Live Smarter

This gracious home in the Hamptons had already been built and was under renovation. Our task was to integrate smart home systems seamlessly and make them as invisible as possible.

We set up interior smart lighting controls, exterior landscape lighting, indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi, and access control with a video doorbell. We also programmed seven zones of climate control and designed a whole house audio system with separate zones for each bedroom suite.

We gave our clients — a couple with two children — everything they asked for and beyond, bringing it up to date with a Control4 automation system. Now, this is truly a smart home.

Smart Lighting Controls: Kitchen

Have you heard of wall acne? This is the industry term for a wall littered with unsightly outlets and switches.

When we conducted a site survey, we found under-counter lights on three separate switches. To turn on those lights, our clients had to walk to three different locations.

P.S. We challenge you to spot the wireless access point we placed in the kitchen for the home's Wi-Fi!

Smart Lighting Controls

With our smart lighting solution, our clients can turn on the kitchen’s under-counter lights with one button.

We simplified the landscape lighting controls, going from seven different switches to one button that turns on all the exterior lights.

Climate Control

Different rooms have different needs, just as some family members prefer cool to hot. Typically, we set the temperature higher in bathrooms. We can also program the temperature for individual rooms. Nothing is set in stone!

Whole House Audio

“A kiss to build a dream on” indeed. The whole house audio system we set up allows our clients and their children to listen to different music simultaneously. Never argue about the music selection again!

Work Out Smarter

This is a typical Hamptons gym — a smart gym, that is, with seamless access to TV, Wi-Fi, and music.

Our clients can work out while watching their flush-mounted Samsung TV. They’ll have strong Wi-Fi thanks to their Pakedge wireless access point. And let’s not forget the importance of music! We integrated Sonos distributed audio and a Sonos media player. The in-ceiling speakers are by Sonance.

Tucked out of sight in the hutch are a radio and Resideo system.

Play Smarter

There’s something for everyone in this playroom.

We paired a Sony 77” OLED TV with 7.1 surround sound system speakers powered by Marantz. The speakers are Sonance’s Visual Performance Series. Our clients' children can now switch between gaming systems with a single remote control.

Everything is managed by Control4.

Relax Smarter

Especially in summer, our clients want to relax and unwind outdoors. The Lutron lighting system we integrated controls the exterior lights. As part of our whole house audio design, we strategically placed Sonance speakers, which blend in beautifully with the home’s aesthetic.

Manage Smarter

Our clients can control their homes from anywhere, adjusting smart lighting, automated shades, and climate. Through a video intercom experience, they can communicate with visitors and grant temporary access when warranted.
